Setting Up OpenAI API

Add your OpenAI API key to power AI-assisted metadata translation and text generation using GPT models inside AppShots.

Create an OpenAI Account

→ Go to platform.openai.com and sign up or log in
→ You'll need to add a payment method — API usage is billed per token (very low cost for typical usage)

Navigate to API Keys

→ Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
→ Select API Keys from the sidebar, or go directly to platform.openai.com/api-keys

Create a New Secret Key

Key Step

The key is only shown once at creation time. Copy it immediately.

→ Click + Create new secret key
→ Optionally name it AppShots
→ Click Create secret key
→ Copy the key — it begins with sk-...

Add the Key to AppShots

→ Open AppShots → Settings → OpenAI
→ Paste the key into the API Key field
→ Your key is stored locally in the macOS Keychain — it is never sent to AppShots servers

You're all set!

OpenAI will now be available as a translation provider in AppShots. You can use it to generate and translate metadata across all enabled languages.
